About Anita

Me
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” -Oscar Wilde
Over 22 years shooting professionally, and it is still a feeling unlike any other to look through the lens and see a subject in a way not possible without the camera. Translating what I see through the lens for others to truly reflectively admire, brings me a unique sense of peace.
Whether I’m working with a magazine, musician, television show, film, advertising campaign, documenting a conference or corporate event, or taking headshots, my photo sessions bring a collaborative effort with open communication, trust and ease. It is always my goal to create striking images of beauty that reflect the subject’s talent and ambition.
Location photo shoots have particularly always been my strength because of my ability to coordinate background, clothing, colours and composition in a timely manner. My strong eye to quickly see ‘what works’ is something my clients value, especially during editorial photo sessions. I’ve been told that one of my strength is helping those who are inexperienced or uncomfortable in front of the camera feel comfortable and have fun.
Photography began for me when digital cameras had yet to exist. My education of both film and digital has only heightened my skills to create high quality imagery.
Since graduating in 1998 from Ryerson Polytechnic University’s prestigious Image Arts Program, some of my clients have included McDonalds (USA), CBC Gem, Food Network, Proper Entertainment, Salesforce Canada, ACTRA (Performance Magazine), Getty Images (LA), Toronto International Film Festival 2016 to 2019, People Magazine (New York), Readers Digest Canada, Royal Conservatory of Music, Global TV, Women’s Network, IBM Magazine (USA), WestJetAirline’s Up Magazine, Germany’s Capital Magazine, Boston’s SAIL Magazine, Key Porter Books, ORION, along with many established event companies and independent films.
A few of the many public figures and musicians I have photographed include; Simu Liu, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Robert Herjavec, Steve Nash, George Stroumboulopoulos, Marianas Trench, SUM41, Tara Slone, Fefe Dobson, Sam Roberts and various Canadian political figures. Red carpets and press conferences have included the likes of; Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Tom Hanks, Joaquin Phoenix, Angelina Jolie and countless other top Hollywood actors. Musicians have included; Gwen Stefani, Metallica, Weezer, Paul McCartney, Shania Twain, Kid Rock, Avril Lavigne and Backstreet Boys. Shooting at the Toronto International Film Festival from 2016 to 2019 has expanded my portfolio for events and red carpets with top film public figures.
In early 2000, my work caught the eye of TV show producers “Behind The Lens” (Fashion Television Network) and I was featured in one of their episodes. Followed by a television show ‘How To Look Good Naked Canada’, featured a photo shoot and my photography tips for viewers to see during a music video shoot. It is a show that was shown on OWN network for almost 5 years.
Most recently, in 2020 and 2021, I worked as Stills/Unit Photographer for the TV series, Cheese- A Love Story (Food Network), and You Can’t Ask that (CBC). My CLIENT page to see a further list.
On a personal note, I proudly volunteer for About Face International, which you can read more about why this cause is important to me here.
In 2019, I worked on a feature documentary in Toronto, with award winning young Director/Producer, Rico King, from Black King Entertainment. As Associate Producer, researching and interviewing subjects for our documentary has pushed my creative talent into film making. I am conquering directing and producing my first short documentary film in 2020, and have been fortunate to meet many supportive and accomplished filmmakers along the way.
The talented individuals that I photograph, energize and motivate what I do each day. I love hearing their stories and learning more about their ambition. If my photography can help play a small role in helping my clients fulfill their career goals and dreams, it is my honour. Thank you for visiting my website. – Anita info@anitazvonar.com

Anita was very easy to work with, she had a very clear vision of what we could do together which made organizing the shoot simple. She is very professional and organized, I absolutely loved the passion she brought to set. I love the photos and really look forward to working with her again in the future.
Anita is personable and accommodating. She is a good listener and worked with what I said I wanted. Loved the final results! I didn’t think I could photograph that well! Thanks for taking care of me
